The Hemet, California, City Council delayed a vote on a proposed casino agreement with the Soboba Band of Luiseńo Indians.
The tribe is seeking support to relocate its on-reservation casino to non-reservation land near Hemet. The casino would be built on 128 acres the tribe is receiving as part of a water rights settlement.
The tribe will pay the city millions for road projects and about $750,000 a year under the proposal.
