NIGC investigates Seminole Tribe for spending

The National Indian Gaming Commission is investigating all of the spending by the Seminole Tribe of Florida for two years, The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

The NIGC is looking at the how tribe spent money for 2004 and 2005, the paper said. The probe was confirmed by the tribe, whose leaders were reportedly given a slush fund of gaming money to do with as they please.

Meanwhile, tribal leaders are negotiating a potential buyout of the backer of their two successful Hard Rock casinos. The Baltimore-based Cordish Corp. receives 30 percent net hotel and gaming profits so buying the firm out could cost the tribe $1.2 billion over the next 10 years, the paper estimated.
