NIGC proposes Class II electronic gaming rules

The National Indian Gaming Commission on Thursday published two rules that would change the Class II gaming industry.

The first rule seeks to draw a "clear line" between electronic Class II games and Class III games like slot machines. Advancements in technology have blurred the distinction, NIGC says.

The second rule revises the definition of "electronic or electromechanical facsimile" to prohibit the use of facsimiles to Class II machines without a tribal-state Class III compact.

To discuss the rules, NIGC is holding six consultation sessions. They are: Minneapolis, Minnesota (July 10-11); Denver, Colorado (July 12-13); Washington, DC (July 18-19); Tacoma, Washington (July 24-25); Ontario, California (July 26-27); and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (August 8-9).
