A Rhode Island Senate committee voted 6-3 to approve a constitutional amendment for the Narragansett Tribe's proposed casino.
The full Senate could vote on the bill as early as today. The amendment already passed the House.
The tribe will still have to convince state voters to approve the amendment after it is placed on the November ballot. A prior attempt, back in 1994, failed.
The tribe's partner is Harrah's Entertainment.
