The Tule River Tribe of California still hopes it can open a large casino resort even though Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) rejected the plans.
The tribe proposed a casino with 2,000 slot machines, a hotel, several restaurants and other amenities. But plans have been scaled back to a 5,000-square-foot retail complex.
Tom Stewart, the general manager for Eagle Mountain Casino, said the tribe isn't giving up on the resort plans. The tribe wants to expand sometime in the future, he said.
