Editorial: The RIGHT Act closes gaming 'loophole'


"The U.S. House of Representatives could vote as early as today on a proposal that would close some troublesome loopholes in the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.

The legislation has to do with three major issues: location, location, location.

Basically, it would curtail the practice of "off-reservation gaming," which allows tribes to build casinos in areas not designated as reservation land. So far, only three tribes have been granted off-reservation gaming, but as many as 40 more in California alone - including newly formed and landless tribes - have indicated interest."
