Tonkawa Tribe closes bingo hall, readies new casino

The Tonkawa Tribe of Oklahoma closed its bingo hall late Tuesday night after receiving a notice of violation from the National Indian Gaming Commission.

The tribe was operating the hall without an approved management contract, the NIGC said. A gaming company called Oakland Enterprises was also hit with the violation.

Meanwhile, the tribe plans to open the new Native Lights Casino. The casino manager said the facility could open in March after receiving approval from the NIGC and obtaining background checks of employees.
