United Keetoowah Band unveils plans for Arkansas casino

The United Keetoowah Band in Oklahoma is proposing to build a casino resort in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The tribe says it is filing a land-into-trust application to acquire 75 acres along the Arkansas River in downtown Fort Smith. The tribe's partner is a businessman who owns the land.

The tribe plans a 250-room hotel and casino with nearly 800 employees. The tribe says it could generate $80.7 million in revenue in the first year of business.

Separately, the tribe is trying to acquire land in Alabama for a cultural center, although gaming has been raised as an option.
