Oklahoma tribes see huge growth in gaming

Oklahoma tribes took in more than $1.4 billion at their casinos last year, according to the new Indian Gaming Industry Report.

Revenues grew by 39 percent, the second highest increase in the nation. The growth was fueled by an influx of new facilities and the addition of more electronic gaming machines and certain table games.

Some Oklahoma casinos benefit from their proximity to Texas. It's only an hour drive from Dallas to Chickasaw and Choctaw nation facilities on the Texas-Oklahoma border.

Overall, tribes took in $22.7 billion last year, an increase of 15.6 percent, according to the Indian Gaming Industry Report.
