Two North Dakota tribes are looking to get into the Mississippi gaming market.
The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation have partnered with Myriad World Entertainment & Resorts. They want to build a $1.9 billion resort in Tunica.
The casino would be operated under state laws and pay taxes to the state. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut had made its own proposal for a casino in Mississippi under state law.
The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians also wants to expand its gaming operation in the state but under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. The tribe filed a land-into-trust application for a casino more than 200 miles from its reservation.
