A group called Rhode Islanders for Jobs and Tax Relief is debuting a television and billboard campaign to tout the Narragansett Tribe's proposed casino.
The two television ads focus on the benefits gaming will bring to the tribe. "It just gives them our perspective," Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas told The Providence Journal. "It lets them know that we're people with needs just like them."
The tribe has asked voters to amend the state constitution to authorize the casino. The issue is on the November ballot.
Opponents filed a federal lawsuit in hopes of stopping the deal. A preliminary decision from the judge is expected today, the deadline for the ballots to be printed up.
