NIGC web site hacked by terrorist group

For the second time this month, the National Indian Gaming Commission's web site (http://www.nigc.gov) has been hacked by a group claiming to have terrorist ties.

Visitors to the agency's main page are greeting by a screaming "FOR ISLAM FOR TURKEY" headline and an image of the Islamic holy city of Mecca. The image is signed "Turkish Muslims Hackers" and is followed by some text in what appears to be Turkish and a short English translation.

No other pages on the web site appear to be accessible as a result of the hack.

Earlier this month, the same group took over the NIGC site. It was quickly corrected but this weekend hack remains visible as of Monday morning.

NIGC is an independent agency of the Interior Department. It was excluded from the computer shutdown order that has kept the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Office of Special Trustee off the Internet since December 2001.
