Narragansett Tribe, Harrah's reaffirm casino bid

The Narragansett Tribe and Harrah's Entertainment remain committed to bringing a casino to Rhode Island amid a buyout offer for the gaming firm.

The tribe and Harrah's are working to amend the state constitution to authorize a casino in the town of West Warwick. The issue is on the November ballot.

The tribe and Harrah's issued separate supporting statements after two private equity firms -- Texas Pacific Group and Apollo Management -- offered a $15.1 billion stock buyout. Opponents, however, said the deal raises more questions about the casino plans.
