Coeur d'Alene man returns home to run casinos

David LaSarte-Meeks has returned to Idaho to oversee gaming operations for the Coeur d'Alene Tribe.

LaSarte-Meeks, a tribal member, was hired as CEO of the Coeur d'Alene Casino & Resort last month. He previously served as executive director of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association and his background is in law.

"His resumé clearly spoke for itself," Chief Allan, the chairman of the tribe, told The Spokesman Review.

LaSarte-Meeks, who has not run a company before, inherits a casino with 830 employees and record profits. He replaced David Matheson amid a dispute over per capita payments and management practices.
