Florida governor warned on Seminole compact
Friday, September 7, 2007

The Seminole Tribe can't operate table games like blackjack and craps, state attorney general Bill McCollum said in an opinion on Thursday.

McCollum said the tribe can't negotiate a compact for those games because they are illegal under state law. Slot machines, however, are legal.

The tribe has been negotiating with Gov. Charlie Crist (R) but he hasn't reviewed the opinion, a spokesperson said. The tribe reportedly wants to offer table games in addition to slot machines.
