Cowlitz Tribe sees more opposition to casino

The Cowlitz Tribe of Washington is seeing more opposition to its proposed casino.

The tribe wants to acquire 152 acres in Clark County for an initial reservation. Part of the land will be used for the $510 million Cowlitz Casino Resort.

The city council and school board in Woodland, several miles from the casino site, passed resolutions against the project. The Woodland Chamber of Commerce and the cities of Vancouver and La Center also oppose the casino.

The tribe is still going through the land-into-trust and environmental review process for the casino.
