Massachusetts tribes eager to discuss gaming

With Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) launching a task force on gaming, the two tribes in the state are eager to get in on the ground floor.

The Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe has expressed interest in opening a casino. The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, whose federal recognition is due to be finalized next month, also wants to pursue gaming.

If slot machines or any other form of gaming is legalized in the state, the tribes will be able to offer the same type of gaming under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. Deval's task force will consider various options.
