Washington panel to consider more compacts

The Washington Gambling Commission will hold a meeting on March 9 to consider new gaming compacts for 28 tribes in the state.

The tribes asked for new compacts in order to expand their facilities. The deal would allow each tribe to add 300 more gaming machines.

Each tribal facility is capped at 675 machines. Some tribes, though not all, are already at the limit. The Spokane Tribe has already signed a deal to operate more machines.

If the compact is approved, the total number of gaming machines will go from about 18,225 to 27,300..
