Seminole Tribe finalizes purchase of Hard Rock

The Seminole Tribe of Florida finalized the $965 million purchase of the Hard Rock enterprise on Monday.

The deal is the reportedly the largest single acquisition by a tribe. "It's a great day not just for Seminoles, but for other native tribes, " council member Max Osceola said, according to news reports. "Now, the mainstream business world knows you can do business with Native tribes and make a profit."

The tribe bought Hard Rock from the Rank Group of Great Britain. The deal includes 68 Hard Rock Cafes, the world's largest collection of music memorabilia and licensing and franchise contracts for 56 restaurants and five hotels.

The tribe opened two casinos under the Hard Rock name.
