Agua Caliente Band signs major deal for casino

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and the city of Rancho Mirage, California, signed a major agreement on Thursday.

The tribe agreed to have the $205 million Agua Caliente Casino placed within the boundaries of the city. The 40-acre site will remain in trust but the city will be able to receive more than $5 million in impact fees.

The agreement came about as the tribe is adding a 17-story hotel to the casino. The tribe will share hotel bed tax revenues with the city.

Other terms call for the tribe to pay for road upgrades. The city has agreed to support the tribe's stalled gaming compact.
