udge dismisses San Pasqual Band slot machine case

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by the San Pasqual Band Of Mission Indians over the number of slot machines allowed under the tribe's compact with the state of California.

The judge said the tribe's request could affect other compacted tribes. But those tribes can't be joined in the lawsuit without their consent, so it was dismissed.

The tribe is limited to 1,572 slot machines. As part of an expansion, the tribe wanted to add a couple hundred machines to the Valley View Casino.

Instead of adding slot machines, the tribe plans to add Class II electronic games.
