As a person with disabilities, Robin Lackie, a member of the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians of California, knows what it's like to feel invisible.
That's why she's making a special effort as the Americans with Disabilities Act coordinator for the tribe's casino. She helps recruit, hire and train disabled workers -- more than 100 are employed at the Viejas Casino.
Lackie, who uses a wheelchair after being injured in a workplace accident in 1989, started complaining about the poor access at the casino and became involved in improving the facility for use by the disabled. Within a year, she started a full-time job as a liaison for customers with disabilities and as coordinator for disabled workers
