Poarch Band concerned about state gaming bill

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians says a bill in the Alabama Legislature could hurt its gaming operations.

The tribe says the bill contains loopholes to allow wide expansion of electronic gaming machines. The tribe also says there are no provisions to regulate the new machines.

The bill was approved by a House committee last week. But some lawmakers are opposing the bill, saying it would hurt the tribe and the state.

The tribe operates Class II facilities.
