Gila River takes comments on casino relocation

The Gila River Indian Community of Arizona held a public meeting to discuss the proposed relocation of the Lone Butte Casino.

The tribe wants to double the size of the facility and move it closer to Chandler. That has many residents opposed, citing traffic, safety and environmental concerns.

At the meeting, only a few people raised their hands in support of the move. Darrell Gerlaugh, the chairman of the tribe's Planning and Zoning department, said the tribe will consider public concerns.

A final decision on the move won't be made until all comments are received.
