Ione Band to drop legal fight over casino agreement

The Ione Band of Miwok Indians will probably drop its fight to preserve an agreement for a proposed casino in Amador County, Vice Chairman Gil Jamerson said.

The tribe signed a municipal services agreement with the city of Plymouth. But the California 3rd District Court of Appeal ruled that it violated state environmental laws.

The tribe requested a rehearing but the petition was denied this week. The tribe could appeal to the Supreme Court but Jamerson said that's not likely.
