Gabrielino-Tongva Nation seeks casino near Los Angeles

The Gabrielino-Tongva Nation, an unrecognized tribe, wants to build a casino near Los Angeles.

The tribe and its backer approached the city of Garden Grove last month. They are offering $100 million upfront for infrastructure and $70 million per year for the next 30 years for a casino.

The effort is being pushed by Jonathan Stein, who is the chief executive of one faction of the tribe. He has been fighting another faction over control and casino plans.
