The
Senate Indian Affairs Committee is held a hearing today on discussion draft legislation regarding the regulation of Class III gaming.
The bill [
PDF] seeks to affirm the National Indian Gaming Commission's authority over Class III gaming. A court case said that role was left to tribes and states through the compacting process.
The hearing started at 9:30am and lasted about 90 minutes. Tracy Burris of the Chickasaw Nation was unable to attend due to air travel problems.
Due to a vote on the Senate floor, the committee first took testimony from the two panels then brought them together for one round of questions. You can download MP3 clips below.
