Pokagon Band ready to open Four Winds Casino

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians is finally opening its casino this week.

The Michigan tribe endured years of delays as it sought to have 675 acres placed in trust for the Four Winds Casino Resort. The wait finally ends with the public grand opening on Thursday.

The facility features 130,000 square feet of gaming space, 3,000 slot machines, 110 table games including poker, six restaurants and a 165-room suite hotel. That makes it the second-largest casino, in terms of gaming space, in Michigan.

The tribe hired 2,500 people to work at the casino. It is being managed by Lakes Entertainment.
