Deadline nears for Class III compact in Florida

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R) has until next Tuesday to negotiate a Class III compact with the Seminole Tribe.

Crist is reportedly offering the table games and slot machines in exchange for a share of the revenue. The tribe reportedly wants an exclusivity provision to keep non-Indian facilities from expanding.

If an agreement isn't reached, the Interior Department says it will issue rules for the tribe to operate slot machines, which are no longer outlawed in the state.
