Mississippi Choctaw chief discusses casino plans

The new chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians discussed the tribe's plans for an off-reservation casino.

Miko Beasley Denson met with officials in Jackson County, where the casino would be located. Officials were asked to keep the details confidential.

The tribe owns land in Ocean Springs that it wants to use for a casino. The site is more than 200 miles from the reservation.

The county is holding a non-binding referendum in November. Denson has indicated the tribe will proceed regardless of the outcome.
