Seneca Nation unveils plans for $333M casino

The Seneca Nation of New York unveiled plans for a $333 million off-reservation casino.

The Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino in downtown Buffalo will feature a 90,000-square-foot casino and a 22-story hotel. The project is expected to be completed in 2010.

"This is our vision, our legacy and our future," said President Maurice A. John Sr., The Buffalo News reported.

The 9-acre casino site has been the subject of litigation. Casino opponents say the site doesn't qualify for gaming under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act because it was taken after trust after 1988 under a land claims settlement act.
