Quechan Nation delays vote on proposed casino

Members of the Quechan Nation will have to wait until a little bit longer to vote on a proposed casino.

The tribal council initially scheduled an October 8 vote on the issue. But it has been pushed back to October 17.

The proposed casino is controversial. Tribal elders say it would be located near sacred sites.

The elders, who have formed a group called Pipa A'Koots', are holding a protest this weekend. They want tribal members to boycott the upcoming vote, saying tribal leaders will go ahead with the casino whatever the outcome.
