Michigan tribes see better future with casinos

Three Michigan tribes are expecting no less than an "explosion" now that they are getting into the gaming industry.

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians opened the Four Winds Casino in August. The tribe plans to use revenues to expand into other business ventures.

"I don't think there's any question there's going to be an expansion," vice chairman Matthew Wesaw told The Western Michigan Business Review.

The Nottawaseppi Huron Band and the Gun Lake Tribe are close to getting their casinos up and running. Gun Lake CEO John Shagonaby said the tribe plans to diversify with its gaming revenues.
