NIGC
Cheyenne-Arapaho gaming revenues being audited

The National Indian Gaming Commission, as well as a team of private auditors, are investigating the gaming revenues of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma.

The NIGC is trying to determine whether the tribe is using its revenues according to its revenue allocation plan. According to the plan, the tribe is supposed to spend 25 percent for economic development, 53 percent for general welfare, 2 percent for government operations and 20 percent in per capita payments.

The private auditors are looking at a wider range of issues. Gov. Darrell Flyingman hired the accounting firm Grant Thornton, citing improprieties.

"For the last three years I've provided the NIGC with information about wrongdoing, and nothing's ever been done about it," Flyingman told The Oklahoman.

The tribe operates Lucky Star casinos in Concho and Clinton.
