Arizona tribes can add up to 19 percent more slot machines to their casinos this year.
The tribal-state compact allows the number of slot machines to increase as long as the state population grows. As a result, the tribes will be able to add nearly 3,000 machines to their casinos.
"We are adding as many slot machines as we can," Russ Burbank, the senior vice president for operations at Casino Arizona, which is owned by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, told The Arizona Republic.
Overall, tribes with compacts are allowed to operate 18,158 slot machines.
