Slot machine revenues down at Connecticut casinos

Slot machine revenues at the two tribal-owned casinos in Connecticut fell in February 2008, according to the Division of Special Revenue.

Foxwoods Resort Casino, owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, saw a 7 percent decline from February 2007.Mohegan Sun Casino, owned by the Mohegan Tribe, saw a 3.3 percent decline.

Tribal officials cited the economy and increased competition for the drop in revenues. But the numbers do show an improvement from December, when Foxwoods saw a 17 percent drop and Mohegan Sun saw a 19 percent drop.

Under the tribal-state compact, the tribes share 25 percent of revenues with the state. In February, the tribes shared $31.7 million.
