The National Labor Relations Board has ordered the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation to negotiate a bargaining agreement with the United Auto Workers.
Card dealers at Foxwoods Resort Casino voted last year to organize with the union. The tribe has refused to negotiate, saying employees should follow tribal labor laws.
The NLRB said the tribe violated federal labor law by failing to come to the table. The decision rejected the tribe's sovereignty claims.
