The Navajo Nation is ramping up the operating hours of its first casino.
The Fire Rock Casino near Gallup, New Mexico, is currently open from 8am to 4am every day. But after this week, it will be operating 24 hours from Thursday-Sunday and 18 hours from Monday-Wednesday.
“We will have completed our training, at least for the bulk of the employees, and then we’ll be operating the full hours" allowed by the tribe's Class III gaming compact, Bob Winter, the CEO of the Navajo Gaming Enterprise, told The Gallup Independent.
The casino opened last month to large crowds. Revenues have exceeded expectations, Winter said.
