Scotts Valley Band divided over casino proposal

Some members of the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians don't agree with the tribe's proposal for a casino in North Richmond, California.

Former chairman Les Miller and others accuse the tribe of reservation shopping. They say Pomo territory doesn't extend to the Richmond area.

Chairman Don Arnold disagrees. He says about half of the tribal membership lives in Richmond, about 114 miles from tribal headquarters in Lakeport.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is finalizing a decision on the environmental impact statement for the project.
