Massachusetts lawmakers revive casino plan

Republican lawmakers in Massachusetts are reviving legislation to legalize three commercial casinos.

The lawmakers plan to include the casino legislation in the state budget. The Senate will vote on the budget next week.

The House rejected the casino proposal in March. Gov. Deval Patrick (D), who backed the legislation, doesn't think the new effort will result in success.

The Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe, in partnership with the Seneca Nation of New York, planned to bid on one of the three commercial casinos. The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is pursuing a casino under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
