Judge issues injunction in electronic bingo case

A federal judge in California put a halt to the state's campaign to remove electronic machines in bingo halls.

Attorney general Jerry Brown claims the machines violate state law. But Judge John A. Mendez of the Eastern District of California allowed the bingo halls to continue using them until their lawsuit is fully resolved.

Meanwhile, the California Assembly Governmental Organization Committee killed a bill that would have barred further use of the machines at bingo halls. Some tribes supported the bill.
