Union files complaint against Mashantucket casino

The United Auto Workers has filed an unfair labor practices complaint against the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut.

The union represents about 3,000 card dealers at the Foxwoods Resort Casino. The workers asked the tribe to negotiate a bargaining agreement after being certified by the National Labor Relations Board.

The tribe rejected the request last week so the union filed a complaint with the NLRB. The tribe says the dispute will end up before the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, which has upheld the imposition of federal labor law on tribal enterprises.
