Eastern Cherokees cite $286,000 theft at casino


The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians says it broke up a cheating ring at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino in North Carolina.

The tribe said a card dealer and 11 gamblers stole $286,000 from the casino. The dealer paid the players for wins they never occurred, officials said.

No arrests have been made so far. The dealer is a tribal member, officials said.
