Nottawaseppi Huron casino on the fast track

The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians is moving quickly to complete its long-delayed casino in Michigan.

The tribe began work on the FireKeepers Casino in May. Construction of the 236,000 square-foot facility is expected to cost $115 million.

"It is fast-tracked," one of the contractors working on the casino told Business Review Western Michigan. The casino is set to open in the summer of 2009.

The tribe requires 20 percent of the workforce to be Native and encourages local subcontracting.
