"The greed of Indian tribes when it comes to their casino gambling is once again showing through. The Pascua Yaqui Tribe has asked a judge to make a small chain of off-reservation poker rooms to shut down their operation.
The tribe is referring to Arizona's Indian gaming compact as their reason the card rooms should be shut down. The compact states that no unregulated gaming can be done on Indian lands. The tribe, however, is seeking to change that compact and make the card games illegal at off reservation land as well in Arizona.
If there is one thing that Indian tribes do not like it is competition. Most of the compacts signed around the country have stipulations that if the individual state expands their gambling options, then the compacts are void."
