Dry Creek Band scales back casino expansion

The Dry Creek Band of Pomo Indians has scaled back plans to expand its casino in California.

The tribe planned a $600 million expansion of River Rock Casino. But due to the national economic crisis, the project has been scaled back to $126 million.

But The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat says creditors aren't looking favorably on the plan. The tribe has a high load of debt and saw gaming revenues decline this year.

"It's not the best time to be expanding," economist Alan Meister, the author of the annual indian Gaming Report, said. "You expect tribes to be cautious."
