Indian gaming coming closer to commercial gaming

The Indian gaming industry could soon outgrow the commercial gaming one, experts said at the Global Gaming Expo this week.

Tribal facilities took in $26 billion last year, compared to $36 billion for commercial gaming. But experts said the gap is likely to close.

"For a number of years now, tribal gaming revenues have been growing faster than the commercial side of gaming," said Frank Fahrenkopf, the president and CEO of the American Gaming Association, The Reno Gazette-Journal reported.

The conference took place Monday-Thursday in Las Vegas.
