Tigua Tribe gets backing for reopening of casino

The Tigua Tribe of Texas continues to push for the reopening of its casino.

The Speaking Rock Casino was closed in 2002 after a legal battle with the state. Officials and lawmakers in the El Paso area support the facility, which generated millions of dollars in revenue and thousands of jobs.

"We are neighbors. We need to strive for the future of El Paso," Lt. Gov. Carlos Hiza told th El Paso city council, The El Paso Times reported.

The city council voted unanimously to back the tribe's efforts.
