Letter: No deal for Mashpee Wampanoag casino

"I have a suggestion for the Middleboro Board of Selectmen and residents who voted for the “proposed” Mashpee Wampanoag casino – stop drinking the Kool-Aid in ’09!

At the July 2007 Town Meeting, the Finance Committee, the folks you rely on to figure the costs vs. revenues of projects, voted against signing the Inter-Governmental Agreement with the tribe. Also at that meeting, Middleboro residents were asked (Article 3) if they wanted a casino, to which the majority vote was a resounding “No.”

Middleboro state Reps. William Straus, Stephen Cannessa and Thomas Calter all are opposed; in fact, Rep. Calter came to Middleboro and presented a clear and concise argument against the proposal. "
