The Quechan Nation shared $90,000 in gaming revenues with the Yuma, Arizona, community.

The tribe gave money to four non-profits and two public agencies. “We wanted to be sure that the communities closest to where we live get some of that money,” said President Mike Jackson Sr., The Yuma Sun reported.

With the economy in recession, the money was eagerly accepted. "It's a really big deal for us right now," Diane Umphress of Amberly's Place, which assists victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, told the paper.

The tribe shares a portion of its revenues with the local community under its Class III gaming compact.
